Everyday Household cleaning products are more toxic to you and your family than you may think!

These four dangerous chemicles commonly put into shampoo, soaps and even toothpaste can lead to skin damage, hair damage and even permanent eye damage in children.  They can even lead to liver toxicity.

 

A report published in the Journal of the  American College of Toxicology in 1983 showed that concentrations of SLS as low as 0.5% could cause irritation and concentarions of 30% caused skin corrosion and severe irritation.  Many soaps have a concentration of 30%.

 

SLS's were primarily used to degrease car engines.

 

SLS's also disolve the natural oils on the skin.  It also denaturizes the protiens in the skin layers, this causes irradiation and  allows environmental contaminants easier access to the lower and more sensitive layers of the skin.  This denaturing of the skin proteins may even be implicated in skin cand other cancers.

 

SLS's are absorbed into the body through the skin and inside the body, it mimics the hormone oestrogen.  This may be responsible from a variety of health problems from PMS to lowered male fertility.  This may also be directly related to female cancers, breast cancer and impotence in men.

 

The use of SLS in childrens products is particularly worrying. In animal studies, 10% SLS caused acute corneal damage. However, it is not just direct eye contact that is the problem.  According to the American College of Toxicology, "Tests show permanent eye damage in young animals from skin contact in non-eye areas." Children are particularly at risk, as their products contain just as much SLS as adult products.

 

Other studies report that SLS enters and maintains reidual levels in the heart, liver, the lungs and the brain from skin contact.

 

There is another factor as well. Carcinogenic nitrates can form in the manuracturing of SLS or by its inter-reaction with other nitrogen bearing ingredients within a formulation utilizing this ingredient.  Many shampoos contain nitrate compounds.  A single shampooing can produce more cancer causing nitrates in the body than eating a POUND of bacon.
