*More on Self Tanning
DATE: 06/30/2007 / MOOD: none

Exfoliation is very important and if you are going to apply self tanner to your feet, be sure to exfoliate every bit of dead skin or you will notice streaks that are darker than others.

And if you should find that you applied a bit to much around your ankles or knees, a slice of lemon will dissolve the excess!

**I personally like the self tanners that come with instant color. It makes it soooo much easier to see where it has been applied!

When Buying Candles
DATE: 06/30/2007 / MOOD: none

Candles simply set the mood for just about any room, so I love to have lots of them around, but here is just a little tip before you buy them. If you like them scented, plan to use them simply for decorating purposes. Don't burn them. From trial and error, I have found that highly scented candles produce more soot.

But I love scented candles as much as the next person and I have them sitting on a shelf in my diningroom. They scent the room quite nicely and they are a nice touch of color at the same time!

About Friends (here on Dollar Space)
DATE: 06/30/2007 / MOOD: in love

It's the friends you can call up at 4:00 a.m. who matter. Marlene Dietrich

Okay, I don't know any of you well enough for that lol... but do you have any friends who you could call up this late and know that they would be willing to help with whatever was wrong??

I think that we all need a few people in our lives that we could call when the going gets rough! For me, I think that it would be my sister.

Can you think of at least one person??

Shopping for a New Home
DATE: 06/30/2007 / MOOD: none

Before you even start looking, make a list of EVERYTHING that is important to you. Here's just a few things on my list and I might be needing it is dh gets transferred.

  • the local hospital and medical offices
  • the nearest shopping (really important ;)
  • how noisy is the neighborhood after dark
  • what are the ages of the neighbors
  • how well maintained is the neighborhood?
  • how far to the airport??

The above list is obviously just skimming the surface. Before you go looking, make up your own list of what is important to you. It will save you a lot of headaches if you plan well!

When Shopping Gets Out of Hand
DATE: 06/29/2007 / MOOD: none

Not that this ever happens to me ;) , but some people do get carried away. My daughter for example still owns cowboy boots that she wore in grade eight. I think she inherited her love of shoes from her grandmother who, if she found a pair that she liked, thought nothing of buying a pair in every color. But, what made me think of the topic was something that I just finished reading. Did you know that Elton John owned 4000 pairs of glasses at one time. Apparently, he decided that enough was enough and donated them all to charity in 2002.

And that part about it never happening to me... I guess I will have to admit, that I own more flip flops than I will ever be able to wear out... so I guess I'm guilty too.

How about you... what do you collect?

Dealing With Salespeople
DATE: 06/29/2007 / MOOD: none

It is so easy to get annoyed with salespeople, but I learned something from my son yesterday. Be patient and they will pretty much bend over backwards to help you. I was losing patience with one young woman who really could care less about what I wanted... until my son began to talk to her. He commented on the fact that it was a gorgeous day outside and that how much of a shame it was that she had to work. With a little attention, she perked right up. Chances are pretty good that she had received a lot of flack that day and all she needed were a few kind words of comiseration.

I guess it didn't hurt that he's drop dead gorgeous either ;) So... if you want something done, take a good looking guy with you!

Did he realize what he was doing?? You bet he did. He is a hairstylist and he deals with the public every day.

About Gift Cards
DATE: 06/29/2007 / MOOD: none

If you have them, use them up. I held onto one for two years... didn't realize that so much time had passed and obviously when I tried to use it, they told me that there was nothing on it. I'm hearing horror stories all of over the place. So, if you are lucky enough to receive them, don't let the store keep your money! They love that part!!

And yes, I have a wallet full of them! Guess I'm a really hard person to buy for!
