Using Video with Ebay Observations by Peppersmoke I have been selling on ebay for almost 4 years. Mostly I sell used items I find at garage sales and from the newspaper. Determining the value of items was one of the biggest learning curves, as I now realize the treasures that I just passed by for years. Anyways, thats for another story. What I would like to talk about is using video in ebay auctions. I have found that using video in my auctions has increased the over all selling prices of unique items greatly. Sometimes by 100% or more! The best way is to film your item, and try to use a little humor with what you are saying about the item, or just use a fitting music. Some examples are: I sold a vintage skateboard that I bought for $3 for $137. I filmed the skateboard from all angles. What I used for music was that cheap sounding music i took from a cheesy 70s porn movie, complete with orgasmic moans. lol. (I more or less kept it clean enough though, as not to cause problems with complaints) My way of thinking was that the only people that would buy such an item as a collectible skateboard was going to be young men, and figured they would get a kick out of the music. I was right! Worked like a charm. another example was the Titanic model i purchased for $5 at a garage sale. It was still a complete unassembled kit. There were a few other sellers with the same kit, and the average selling price was about $40. I filmed the kit, all the pieces and the box & instructions slowly panning over the items. For music I used the music from the movie "Titanic" you know the love theme 'My heart will go on" It is a nice song, that a person finds themself almost singing if you are in the right mood. I set a buy it now price for the model kit at $69.99. It took less then 1 day and the kit was sold! and for $30 more then the average selling price of other sellers! I am fairly confident that it was the video that helped pull it off :) Well I hope this advice gives you some ideas & helps you. Have fun making more money. Peppersmoke
